Hartshorne Conference Room
The Geography Library oversees the reservation process for the Hartshorne Conference Room. This seminar room (Room 280C Science Hall) is located in the west end of the library’s main room. The use of this room is limited to the faculty, graduate students and instructional staff of Science Hall.
Instructional Equipment
The Geography Library now oversees the reservation and checkout of the Department of Geography’s instructional audiovisual equipment to include laptops, projectors and GPS units.
The use of this equipment is limited to the faculty and instructional staff of Science Hall.

Hartshorne Conference Room
The Hartshorne Room may be reserved for the length of class, seminar, defense or event during the Geography Library’s hours of operation. Additional time for event set up and/or take down should be considered when making your reservation. The use of this room is limited to the faculty, graduate students and instructional staff of Science Hall.
Instructional Equipment
Loan Periods
Instructional equipment circulates for the length of the class or event during the Geography Library’s hours of operation. Please include additional time for pick up and return of equipment when making your reservation. Longer loan periods will be considered on a case by case basis. The use of this equipment is limited to the faculty and instructional staff of Science Hall.
The GPS receivers are available for up to one week. Longer loan periods will be considered on a case by case basis.
Pickup & Return
See the staff at Geography Library Circulation Desk for admittance to the Hartshorne Conference Room at your reserved start time.
Instructional equipment is available from the Geography Library Circulation Desk. Let the library staff person know that you are picking up or returning a reserved equipment item. It is important to be on time for your pickup and return appointments.
Call 262-1706 if you are running late.
We strongly encourage borrowers to double-check equipment before leaving the Geography Library. Once the equipment has left the library, you will be held responsible for any missing parts. Equipment is only considered returned once all parts have been returned.
Responsibility
The borrower assumes full responsibility for instructional equipment and its care. The borrower assumes full responsibility for all loss or damage of instructional equipment. Instructional equipment will be returned in the same condition as when issued, except for normal wear and tear.
It is the borrower’s responsibility to return instructional equipment before the date and time due. In the event that there is failure to return instructional equipment, this matter may be referred to UW Police & Security.
General Reminders
The Geography Library is not responsible for any damaged or lost data incurred while using instructional AV equipment and or GPS receivers.
You are expected to adhere to the Policy for Appropriate Use of University of Wisconsin-Madison Information Technology Resources, available at http://www.cio.wisc.edu/policies/appropriateuse.aspx.
The Geography Library does not charge equipment batteries.
You are asked to return equipment with fully charged batteries.
You agree to prompty report any and all problems with the equipment.
WiscCal Resource Calendars
A calendar is available in "view only" mode for each resource. All reservations approved will be noted on the appropriate resource calendar. Check the appropriate resource calendar to verify that the resource is available when you want it. Reservations are made on a first come, first served basis (in person, on the phone, or online). Reservations are not guaranteed. If there is a problem we will do our best to contact you.
Make a Reservation
To reserve a resource, fill out and submit this form. If there are no conflicts with the date and time you want, then the resource will be reserved for you and you will be notified via email. If there is some conflict, you also will be notified by email.
